Skyscrapes and Saguaro

This week here are Sandau Fine Art Gallery at 461 W 200 S, in Vernal, Utah, we are showcasing two works from our featured artists.

The first titled “Split Mountain Skyscape”, is an original 17”x21” watercolor by Jeanne Newman. Skyscape images are all about the sky’s dynamic features.

Jeanne’s image features the beautiful white, puffy, cumulus clouds of summer with patches of bright blue showing through. Split Mountain dressed in warm brown and burnt orange with a foreground of green acts as the anchor for the eye.

The other piece for this week is by Ken Casady titled “Saguaro Sunset”. It’s an artistic rendering of a photographic image printed on aluminum measuring 30”x22”. Ken has a very distinctive, bright, vivid style to his works. This beautiful saguaro cactus is drenched in beautiful blues and greens while the background of the sunset sky is a blaze with the contrasting yellow and orange colors.

The Many Moods of Color

Here at Sandau Fine Art Gallery at 461 W. 200 S, in Vernal, Utah, we feature four wonderful paintings this coming week, two each from our visiting artists Garth Harrison and Cheryl Livingston-Young.

The first from Cheryl Livingston-Young is an original 12x16 oil painting titled “Wood-Duck”. This is a beautiful painting with a variety of alluring greens and yellows in the water, sky and foliage, contrasted against muted browns and purples in the trunks rocks and shadows.

Our next painting is by the artist Garth Harrison titled “Table Fruit”. This is an original 16 x 20 oil painting with deep dark, rich tones and exquisite composition. This still-life has perfect balance and lighting.

The other offering this week from Cheryl Livingston Young is a 12 x 16 original oil painting titled “Quiet Place”. The cool tones of the water are kissed by the warm tones of a setting sun through peach and purple colored clouds.

For our last work this week is an original 12 x 16 oil painting by Garth Harrison titled “Morning Fog”. This winter-scape features three loose stacks of hay with an old-fashioned hay-derrick. Cool purple and blue hues in the shadows are offset by the warm tones of the hay highlighted by morning sun.

Serene

We have two works we are featuring this week at Sandau Fine Art Gallery at 461 W. 200 S, in Vernal, Utah.

The first piece is from artist, Garth Harrison titled “Last Rays of Day”.  This is a large 18 x 24 original oil painting in brilliant colors! As the sun sets behind the wood covered hills in the background, the last light of day touches the tops of the trees illuminating their leaves in a vivid array of green. Reflected in the slow moving river-water, the trees and red blooming bushes create an entrancing scene.

Our other piece of featured artwork this week is by artist Cheryl Livingston-Young. This is an 11x14 original oil painting on canvas titled “Pelicans”.  In this serene composition, a few sun-rimmed cottonwood trees, together with the underlying yellow-green grasses, are reflected in the placid blue water. In the mid-ground of the painting, two snow-white pelicans are seen drifting in the water far to the left while soft pastel tones sketch the outlines of the distant hills and mountains near the back of the image.

This wonderfully painted milk cow sports a large brass bell on a thick leather collar around her furry neck. Wild flowers grace the grassy field where she feeds while steep mountain-climbs dressed in evergreens rise in the background.

“Anvil Butte”

Our other piece for this week is by Garth Harrison titled “Anvil Butte”. It’s an original oil painting on masonite measuring 12”x16”. There is a wonderful late evening color palette with warm oranges and greens offset by the blue cloud-laden sky. This
